New England acquires Colombia forward Moreno

02/02/2012 - Foxborough, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The New England Revolution acquired Colombia forward Jose Moreno on loan from Colombian power Once Caldas on Thursday.

The 30-year-old Moreno has played in Colombia, Ukraine, Argentina, Romania and Peru during his career. He earned three caps for Colombia in 2006.

"Jose is a player we targeted during a recent scouting trip and we are excited to been able to complete a deal with him," Revolution general manager Michael Burns said.

Moreno spent the second half of last season in Colombia with Once Caldas, and had seven goals and four assists in 20 appearances.

He will complete his move to New England upon receipt of his U.S. P-1 Visa and his International Transfer Certificate. Per league and club policies, further contract details will not be released.

"He's a strong, target forward who has a lot of experience playing at the highest levels in both South America and Europe. We're looking forward to his arrival as soon as the Visa process is completed," Burns added.

A front-door cover is just the opposite where the favorite scores late and covers the number they are favored by.

These front-door and backdoor covers are common when second and third string players enter games in college football and it can be the worst nightmare for some bettors. Turnovers are the single most frustrating, and at times the most gratifying, aspect of a college football lines, mostly because they are so unpredictable. They are part of the game and most of the time nothing can be done to control them. However, turnovers are contagious and they can carry over from game to game and season to season.

It’s important to know how to forecast these unforeseen events and how to use them to your advantage. You can find ways to give yourself an edge by looking at past histories of teams and coaches and how they have fared in turnover wars in the past. Instead of turnovers hurting you at the wrong times, find ways to use them to your advantage.

As you can see, college football handicapping is very labor intensive and isn’t just based on where teams are ranked in the AP and coaches polls. Experience, coaching and match-ups are all important since unlike the NFL, college teams turn over much more often with new personnel at most positions every single year. Keeping current on this information is vital.
